Grounded in the university’s core values of integrity, citizenship, continuous learning, and excellence, the university’s graduate degree programs seek to ensure that its students demonstrate high levels of effective communication and critical thinking skills.

Each of Aurora University’s graduate programs identifies specific learning outcomes that are essential to practitioners or scholars in that respective field or discipline. These program-level learning outcomes are articulated in the section of the catalog for that particular program. In addition, the university is committed to assessing the following two University Learning Outcomes in all graduate degree programs:

  • Effective Communication
  • Critical Thinking

The university believes that students who seek graduate degrees must achieve proficiency in these areas in order to be effective in their intended professional and scholarly fields. The university is committed to measuring the achievement of these outcomes and using assessment as a rationale for program revisions.

The ultimate aim is a curriculum grounded in the university’s core values, which provides the kind of transformative education articulated in the university’s mission and vision statements.
